Dance teachers – a touch of pamper and glamour to start the summer?

Earlier this year we were excited to announce our sponsorship of the Dance School of the Year Awards, and show our support for schools and teachers who’re doing amazing work through dance, nurturing young dancers and minds of the future. The wonderful thing about these awards is that it’s not about the talent of the performers in the school; it’s about the teacher and the culture, environment, and opportunities they create for their students.

We felt the Groove Child® Dance Syllabus simply HAD to become a sponsor of this important event, as we share a similar ethos to that of DSOTY; “that dance teachers should be applauded and celebrated. So much more than just a teacher – they are almost a substitute parent to many of their students as they are role models, mentors and social workers, offering support, stability and a disciplined approach to life…”

What happens at a Groove Child Syllabus Course?

Groove Child® Syllabus Course Day!

9:30am

The day begins with a warm welcome from Natalie & Amy, the creators of Groove Child, short introductions by the group, and an overview of the syllabus mission and ethos.

We then begin with a quick discussion about the talent development & optimal learning environments – some useful concepts teachers may or may not already be aware of, but ensuring an interesting and positive discussion to set the tone for the day. We refer back to this throughout the day and HOW the use of Groove Child at your school can help grow the talent of your students of all abilities.

Mission Complete (well, almost)

So! The first phase of the Groove Child® Toolkit pilot at Mudeford Infants School is over…but the mission is not quite over.

One-to-one feedback between our facilitator and the school teacher is scheduled for this week and we can’t wait to gather further insight into the toolkit’s ease of use, and it’s potential for contributing to both the physical and emotional development of young children within a Primary school setting.
